Frequently Asked Questions
1. Why is your trail information so different from all the others?
Our trail guides are not generalized maps taken from outdated guidebooks and maps. Our trail guides are developed using actual field data and GPS equipment. Our staff members actually hike each trail while recording data and taking photos. Also, our trail information includes trail maps, elevations, photographs, GPS information, geocache information and detailed trailhead directions. We know of no other trail information on the market as detailed as e-TrailMaps.com.
2. Do I need GPS equipment to use your trail maps?
Our products are available as digital downloads in graphic PDF form (which can be printed from your PC). Although some users prefer to simply download the waypoints into their GPS and are ready to hike, others are content with digital PDF files that provide all of the trail information which can be viewed and printed in hardcopy at their leisure.
3. Is trail information available in book printed form?
At this time trail information is not available in book printed form. This option may be available in the future. However, keep in mind that once you download the data PDF file onto your PC you can print the trail information anytime using your own printer.
4. What is geocaching?
Geocaching is an activity where hikers use GPS equipment to locate hidden caches or "treasure". All of our trail maps show geocaches that are in close vicinity of the trail for use by hikers. For more information, see the section entitled "Geocaching".
5. Can I share downloaded files with other users?
All digital files downloaded from our site are for your sole personal use. No commercial use of any of information from e-TrailMaps.com is permitted without prior written permission of e-TrailMaps.com. For information on licensing for commercial use, contact us at office@e-trailmaps.com.
6. Why do I need Adobe Reader Version 7.0 or later?
The trail guide files load much easier with Adobe Reader Version 7.0 than with earlier versions. Earlier versions of Adobe Reader can cause download problems.
